Tank Sensors
Field effect sensors and pneumatic tank sensors are two effective solutions for monitoring black water tank levels in marine applications.
Field effect sensors use non-contact technology to detect fluid levels through plastic tank walls up to 10 mm thick, eliminating the need for drilling or piercing the tank. These sensors are adhesively attached to the tank’s exterior and can be configured to signal when the tank reaches medium or full levels.
On the other hand, pneumatic tank sensors measure the back pressure of air pumped through a small tube inserted into the tank, providing accurate readings of fluid depth. Both types of sensors can be connected to toilet control panels or central consoles for easy monitoring.
The pneumatic sensor offers continuous level readings, while the field effect sensor provides discrete level notifications, making them suitable for different preferences in black water tank management.
Pneumatic Tank Sensor
A pneumatic tank sensor can be installed on a black water tank to monitor the tank level. The sensor is wired to a toilet’s control panel, where a lit LED will indicate that the waste tank is almost full.
